Central Ohio High Schools Highly Rated

The American Institutes for Research worked with U.S. News & World Report to rank schools relative to how those students performed based on the state’s average, how the schools are preparing students for college, and how minority/low-income students perform vs similar students in the state. They did this for 20,000 high schools around the nation.

Five of the central Ohio schools were ranked within the Top 10 in the State. Nine were ranked in the Top 25 of the State. Here are their rankings:

Bexley, Upper Arlington, Dublin Coffman, Dublin Scioto and New Albany are located in Franklin County. The remaining schools are in southern Delaware County.

ODE releases School District Report Cards

The Ohio Department of Education has just released the Report Cards for all the schools in Ohio. To see all the details of how your district and the schools within the district performed, follow the link. Once at the ODE web site, click on the Report Card Data link, located toward the right side a little below half way down the page.

If you click on the Guide for Ohio’s Report Card System, you can view a pdf file that explains the rating system (12 pgs).

Here are the 2007-2008 ratings for the school districts in the suburbs I typically mention in my blog:

  • Excellent with Distinction: Bexley, Dublin, Hilliard, New Albany, Olentangy, Upper Arlington 
  • Excellent: Big Walnut, Fairbanks, North Union, Westerville, Worthington
  • Effective:  Buckeye Valley, Delaware, Gahanna-Jeff, Marysville
  • Continuous Improvement:  Columbus
